Kumeu River, Rays Road, Pinot Noir, Kumeu, Auckland – 2018

${symbol}${ activeVariant.price | money }

Rays Road is Kumeu River’s new vineyard site in Hawkes Bay. This limestone hillside is at 180 m altitude, with a northerly aspect. It is dry-farmed to yield high quality grapes for wine under the Rays Road name for our Kumeu River label. Pinot Noir had been planted by the previous owners in 2008 with a variety of clones. We are very excited by the Pinot Noir from this limestone hillside, and the future of this vineyard is certainly very bright.

The vineyard in Rays Road, Raukawa was originally a joint venture between Trinity Hill and Pascal Jolivet from Pouilly-Fumé in the Loire Valley of France. We are very excited about the land in this vineyard as it is predominantly based on limestone and is also significantly more elevated than most vineyards in Hawkes Bay.

What the critics say

"Supple pinot noir with taut, focused dark cherry, chalk, mineral, red rose and spicy oak flavours. An elegant wine with personality, energy and subtle power. A little closed at first but the aroma blossomed as the wine sat in the glass. Impressive purity"
